Ahhh, the joys of working from home on a day when the weather is wet and wild. Someone from work emailed to say they envy me working from home on such a dreadful day, and imagined I was sitting here all snuggly in my jarmies having endless cups of tea. Funny thing is, she might be right about the endless cups of tea, but I still get up at my normal time, do all the things I normally do including my 1.25 hour long “get ready to face the world", shower, shave (legs and underarms that is - the old "french heritage - constant battle against body hair" issue doesn't sleep just because it's raining outside and I'm working from home ya know...) and make-up routine - get dressed in work clothes (with the exception of jandals or socks instead of my usual boots) and sit at my kitchen table in full make-up and work regalia for the day. I mean, just because one is working alone does not mean one has to be anything less than ones usual glamorous self...it doesn't pay to let standards slip, I am a princess afterall...
And besides all that, it helps get me into the right head space – I can’t be a machine when I’m in my jim jams feeling crusty and hairy now can I? Full battle armour is required. So, its less a case of hiding from the world and looking like a bag of old shite while no one sees, and more a case of how wonderful it is not to have to battle the traffic (which is always super shit on days like this) and not to have to go out in the wind and rain and get all that perfect hair and make-up wrecked...
