Freaks

I have a mad passion for creating fanciful creatures. Previously I had only made them as gifts for my family members, certainly this first lot who were very quickly refined into something a lot...well, cooler, but as my very first foray into quirky toys and gifts for the grandbebes, they did the trick and hey, everyone has to start somewhere... so although they weren't by any means wonderful or perfect, they were the start of the journey so I thought I'd introduce you to them.  So… from left to right, this is who they are:

Rosie Green - she’s been a dedicated eco warrior most of her life. Shes still passionate about the planet and doing her bit to live a more "green" life, but shes largely retired now and ready to settle into providing snuggles and cuddles for her new owner. She’s one of a large number of knitted "Freaks" that Ive bought into the world. There is a rogue arm of the family that has sprung up, made up almost entirely of vintage or retro fabrics. This strain of the family appear to be multiplying and have been accepted into the wider Freak community by their knitted cousins.

Rosie Pink is one such freak and the highlight of her life so far has been a short stint on an island survival reality TV game show, where she was more commonly known as contestant 49 (here’s a picture of her from behind – she refuses to remove her contestant number as you can see…)

She could easily have won the contest if only they'd provided her with more comfortable bedding and hadn't been so stingy with the food. Rosie likes a good feed of mince pie and chips. No one told her that the Ponsonby Pie shop on the island has long been closed, or she would never have agreed to go in the first place.

Billie Blue is closely related to Rosie Pink and he also enjoyed a brief stint on the same island survival reality TV game show, where he was more commonly known as contestant 53. (he also wears his contestant number on his back)

He lasted marginally longer than Rosie, but was eliminated from the contest when he failed to complete the spear throwing challenge (no arms you see)...

Much to my surprise, they are still much loved and treasured by the grandbebes, so early undeveloped prototype or not, they have more than done their bit for this Princess.
