Its My Party...

After much deliberation I had decided to have my party at home instead of hiring a venue. Time and money have been in short supply this year and I realised if I didn't just get on with it and organise SOMETHING, I was going to miss the boat altogether and I didn't want to do that either. This raised a bit of a dilema however - I just couldn't picture my "Witches Ball", in all it's gothic glory, being held at home and getting exactly the right vibe. Home is ecclectic with hints of goth, retro, baroque and a dozen other styles that all meld together to give it it's own special energy, but no where is there really the large open area or room that can be transformed into the picture I had in my head for the Witches Ball. I toyed briefly with the idea of making Scott build another room on, but then thought that's not terribly practical, although not altogether out of the question if I had my way...but no, not terribly practical, even I had to admit that (much to his heartfelt relief...)
So. I then decided the Witches Ball cannot be this year, the thought of doing it half arsed just didn't sit well, so I will save the concept for another time when I can execute it the way I always imagined it would be. So back to the drawing board - a different type of celebration was in order this time. The change of plan was no reason however not to have something just as awesome, just with a slightly more pared down, earthy sort of vibe rather than "high glamour". Thinking along those lines, taking into account magical festivals, the time of year, the vibe of our house and my desire to continue with the magical theme, I thought it was very fitting that we switch to an early Beltaine celebration, to welcome "the coming of the light", the onset of summer.

So, it's to be outdoor fires, fairy lights in the trees, candles and nature. Whatever the theme, knowing my friends and family there will still be copious amounts of alcohol, fun, laughter and of course, dancing, probably some lost clothing, some memory loss and by the end of the night, scenes resembling the photo below...

I can't wait to see you all there...
